Relief Riders International Offers Horseback Tour of India

Relief Riders International (RRI), a company that combines philanthropy with adventure travel, is offering a two-week horseback tour that centers around helping medical personnel treat villagers while traveling, and finally ending up at the Pushcart Camel Fair. The company has led relief missions on horseback through scenic regions of India and Turkey since 2004.

The 15-day/16-night journey takes place Nov. 13 to 28 and the package includes 12 days of riding, all transfers, food and lodging at hotels and in Relief Riders International camps. The program is priced $7,500 per person, double occupancy, with a $1,000 single supplement.

The village of Pushcart in northern India, with a population of 15,000, annually attracts another 85,000 people, 10,000 horses, and 40,000 camels for several days of livestock trading, equine and camel pageantry, races and performances, which take place along with religious festivals. The Relief Ride will begin at the Khimsar Fort on the edge of the Thar Desert of Rajasthan and will pass through the desert, with opportunities to observe desert wildlife. The trip concludes with three nights of camping at the Pushcart Fair.
