For those of you who will be in Rochester, New York this summer, take advantage of the ASL tours being offered at the George Eastman House. ASL tours will be available on Saturdays throughout the summer starting at 11 a.m. on the following dates: June 30, July 14, 21, 28, August 11, 25. These tours will be lead by Robert Menchel, a volunteer docent for the museum and retired professor from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. This 45 minute tour will be signed and spoken, and provides the same information as the daily tour including historical information about photography, motion pictures, and the life of George Eastman. Although there is no additional cost for the ASL tours, regular admissions rates still apply. Admission costs are as follows: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (over age 65), $5 for students (with ID), and free admission for museum members and children (age 12 and under). No reservations are needed for these tours, so feel free to take advantage of this opportunity by joining one of these tours throughout the summer.
If you are unable to attend any of these scheduled ASL tours, but would like to arrange a group tour in ASL, you can make an appointment with at least a week’s notice by calling (585) 271-3361 ext. 238.
